The Karunya University, Coimbatore, is offering two distinctive courses in kinesiology
A four-year Bachelor of Kinesiology in Human Kinetics (BKin Human Kinetics) and another degree programme in Gerontology (BKin Gerontology).Kinesiology means the study of movement. It describes a form of therapy that uses muscle monitoring (biofeedback) to look at what may be causing imbalance in the body.
BKin Gerontology:Gerontology is the study of the aging process in individuals as they grow from middle age through later life. It helps in understanding aging in the context of biological, social and behavioural sciences. The programme will cover topics related to the needs of older adults.
It will address changes in human physiology and movement related to aging/disease, fitness assessment, adaptation and programme management, recreation and physical activity for older adults, and lifestyle factors related to normal and healthy aging.
· The contents of the postulation for the Graduation Degree is very good ; but I doubt about its continuity in the present set of studies, who generally opt to go for money-making degrees by which they can learn and fly to other countries often to have/earn more and more before they become OLD like us; During our time, we never had the chance of changing jobs as of date, and even earning/offer from the goi or pvt.sectors, or sending them to foreign countries as like today;
· Can any of you furnish the number of graduated had the above dgrees in the past five years or so and their present status and studies/job etc.;
III.I do not fully agree to this theory; though to some extent this may be true , but in most of the persons with whom I have associated did really want to have social gathering around them, their experiences to be shared between the younger generation and that they want to be in the union of someone/group of people to spend time and have some or the other way to kill their leisure time .Aging and retirement from active work - duty place may be one thing and continuing work even after 65 plus in some work aspect, not for money, is found to be some other aspect that they want to be in the Society-Groups and move with one and all duly sharing their experiences good,bad and the worst; they may more talkative than spectators/lighteners.
